Default PPS-Pro, TE levels, weekend dosing strategy

Hello Edward, I am using PPS without water changes and would like to switch to PPS-PRO. The only thing that concerns me about it is amount of CSM+B in micro solution.

When I calculate it in Fertilator (on this page), I get these numbers:

80 grams in 1000 ml solution yields 0.14 ppm of iron when dosing 1 ml per 10 g

Multiplied by 7, it is almost 1 ppm of iron in one week.

It is 14 times more than you recommended here (PPS without water change, part - dosage per week):

http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/f...n-systems.html

All other components stay at the same level (NO3 7 ppm, PO4 0.7 ppm, Mg 0.7 ppm).

Am I calculating it wrong? Is Fertilator wrong? Or you just found out that 14 times bigger dosage of micros is needed?

And another, simpler question - I leave my flat for the weekends - should I use double dosage on Friday and Monday?

... it is even more than twice as much as EI recommendation, but EI handles this amount of micros with water changes, while in PPS-Pro water changes are optional...

Why is there more TE in PPS-Pro?

Plants are very flexible in terms of trace element levels. They do well with very little. On the other hand plants take thousand times more traces when available without any significant difference. The levels in PPS-Pro are higher in order to cover the wide range of available trace element products on the market.

So if you are happy with the PPS-Classic levels keep dosing it, nothing will change.

Thank you
Edward

Hi dzoni
That depends on your light intensity and CO2 levels. If you have very high light you can shorten the photoperiod in half for two days. There is no problem if you don’t dose for two days under low and normal light and CO2 levels. Plants will use reserves. You could dose double before the weekend if you are low on NO3, but after the weekend dose as usual.

Thank you
Edward

You are Welcome.
Is there an Aquarium forum in Slovakia we could look at?

Yes, for example this one: www.akva.sk

But unfortunately it doesn't have an english version.

And here are my 2 cents on it http://www.akva.sk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5291
