Default PPS-PRO + Flourish Excel

Hi,

I'm wondering is it ok to supplement my PPS-Pro daily dose with Flourish Excel? and if it's ok, what's the recommend daily doses?

Thank you.

I am currently running two tanks exactly this way (75g and 20g) and so far the results are great. I am adding the recommended amounts of all components. That is, 1ml per 10g for all three liquids.

Thank you Dave,

so 3 ml per day of excel into my 30 gallon tank is ok.
wondering if you have any algae problem? if you can post your tank pictures here?

I am just getting my stuff packed for a business trip south of the border, but I would be happy to snap some pics when I get back in a week or so.

To answer your questions, yes I would go with 3ml per day of Excel in a 30g tank. As far as algae goes, all I can say is that since I started using PPS Pro dosing + Excel I have seen a very large decrease in algae in the 75g tank. The 20g tank, which I also run a DIY (yeast) CO2 bottle on never had much algae to start. If anything, I wouldn't mind slowing down the plant growth in that tank, as the stems are now growing fast enough to require weekly replanting.

Nice to hear PPSPro + Flourish Excel is ok
Just found out about PPSPro from Left C and has placed an order of dry fert from RexGrigg for combo pack + Mg2SO4. Can't wait to start.
I have 20 gal with gravel no CO2 system so, been using only Flourish and Fourish Excel but plants show defecency. Hope PPSPro + Excel help out.

Excellent timing on this post (or just ironic I found it after getting fed up with my tank this weekend)

Excel + PPS Pro has been a confusing point for me for the last few weeks/month(?) as I see signs of nutrient excess in my 29g nearly every week!

Going to back off on the daily excel dose and keep all else constant, here goes...!

Keep us posted if you would, as I am guessing there are several of us using PPS + Excel.

I am guessing however that the Excel isn't the problem. If you are seeing nutrient excess, that wouldn't manifest from Excel (I think) but rather from the PPS Pro. Excel helps, but I believe PPS is really meant for systems that are using "real" CO2 whether it is pressurized or yeast generated. I have had good success running PPS + Excel, but I bet that my plants are not utilizing all of the nutrients I am adding simply due to a lack of CO2. You might consider lowering the dosage of PPS while keeping the Excel at the recommended dosage.
