Default PPS-Pro recipe storage

Hello I am just getting started with dry ferts (thanks to Orlando from GLA) and now going to use the PPS Pro Solution. I will be using a 500ml bottles to mix in (macros and micros). The question I have is how long is the mix good for once I combine each of them in the bottles? Do you need to refrigerate or anything special with it once it is mixed?

i think most people keep it in their refrigerator, and away from sunlight.

i just keep it in my aquarium cabinet and give it a shake before adding to my tank.

x's 2 Freydo. I just keep mine in a dark bottle to keep light from penetrating and then keep that stock in the fridge.

Btw - My bottles are just hydrogen peroxide bottles.

What is the point of putting it in the refrigerator?

Hi jeepn4x4,
I mix up about 2 weeks worth at a time. When I first started dosing, I used tap water. After a week or so fungus would appear in the solution.
Now I use distilled water and store at room temperature in old Seachem bottles that I saved. I add a couple of drops of fungus treatment to each bottle as well.

How long can you keep the mixed solution, if kept in the fridge?

The CSM+B tends to get fungus quite easily. I keep both solutions in the fridge but the CSM+B will develop fungus after about two weeks so I make it up in smaller batches. I haven't tried the fungus treatment.

Default Fungus??? Re: PPS-Pro recipe storage

Did the fungus in the micro solution cause infection or problems with the fish in the tank? My cardinals have come down with what looks like a bacterial infection and some with perhaps secondary fungal infection. My solutions have been mixed for about three weeks. I did not see this thread when I mixed them. I use peroxide bottles and store in refrigerator. I just pulled out the micros and it looks like maybe there is some kind of contaminant - tiny threadlike possible fuzzy lint sized particles.

I see the reference to a few drops of anti-fungal. Are we talking methalyne blue?

Opinions?

I started treatment with melafix and pimafix.

For macros, I mix it up in large batches and just let it sit.

For traces, I mix it up 500 mL at a time. Lasts 6 weeks or so. I don't refrigerate it. By the 3 week mark I start seeing a little fungus, but I never have any problems.
