Default Iron Mix

I was thinking about making my own Iron solution. I bought some iron chelate off greg watson a while ago.

I have a special 1 litre container, I wondered how much iron chelate to add to the water to make a bottle and how much to dose. I'd probably only dose once a week or something

I read somewhere this "Mix 3.53 ounces to make 1 litre of concentrated Iron Supplement solution" but unsure if that is correct

Is this the 10% chelate you bought?

So for 1 liter, you mix a 9-1 mix.

9 parts Water - 29.7 ounces

1 part 10% chelate = 3.3 ounces

This gives a total of 33 ounces, or 1 liter.

Hope that helps...Also, since you posted in the PPS forum, I assume you are dosing your CSM+B?

Hi geezer,

I like to make up my iron smaller amounts, so I follow the recommendations of Rex Grigg. Rex sells 10% chelated iron and these are his mixing and dosing instructions:

Chelated Iron
* Mix 35 grams of powder with 2 cups (473 ml of water).
* 1 ml of this solution will raise the iron level in 10 gallons of
water by 0.2 ppm.
* Suggested range for iron is 0.1-0.5 ppm

Although I dose per the PPS-Pro method, I follow Rex's recommendation for Iron. Hope this helps!

Hey Seattle, Good post.

Since you use PPS pro as well...when are you dosing your Iron mix since PPS is a daily dosing solution?

Yep I do that too, so iron is not really an emergency
