EI and NO3 question - Fertilizing

Starting the EI system soon and have a quick question before I order ferts.

I have a 55 gallon goldy tank that I feel supplies all the NO3 anyone would ever want in a tank (maybe more).

In looking at the EI system, one of the components is KNO3. K is also present in the KH2PO4. Is there enough K in the second component that I won't need to supplement more if I forego the KNO3? I am also using Flourish Excel. Thanks!

Your phosphate levels are probably adequate as well; they usually are in a goldfish tank.

You could add additional potassium with potassium sulfate - K2SO4.

In my goldfish tank, I use RO water. When I reconstitute the alkalinity, I use potassium bicarbonate instead of sodium bicarbonate, so that's where most of my K comes from. But that's just me and my unconventional ways.

Thanks! Anyone happen to have information on EI for discus tanks? I'm going to be adding peat to soften the water because the water in DC is fairly hard.
