Default Seachem Daily Dosage Schedule - Adjusted for 10 Gallon Aquarium

The posted Suggested Daily Dosage for Seachem Products is in Capfuls for 60 gallon, 50 gallon, 40 gallon and 30 gallon tanks. Do some of the products come with droppers?

Is there an Adjusted Daily Dosage for Seachem Products that tells you in dropperfuls how much to put in each 10 gallons of Aquarium water?

That would be so much easier to measure than 1/6 of a capful or such.

Thanks for your help with this.

And on Day 7 it lists a 5% water change. Is this better than a 10% water change?

I belive the 'standard' conversion is 20 drops ~= 1mL.... and most of the seachem caps are 5mL.

So for stuff that says 1 capfull per 50gal, use 1 mL or 20 drops for your 10gal.

When I buy flourish for my 10gallon I don't remove the safety seal, I just poke a small hole in it with a toothpick. This lets me use the approx. 'drop system'.

Seachem liquids come with scaled pipettes. They are not analytic quality calibtrated devices, but for planted tank use they are dandy IMHO. Beyond 1 ml pipette doses, many LFS stock 5 ml dosing pipettes, scaled per ml. Beyond that, dosing syringes at 20 and 50 ml are also available (with a bit of airline tubing attached, they funtion as larger pipettes). Measurement of liquids to our required accuracy is not a big issue. Few of out tests can read to our measurement level of inaccuracy.

Default Adjusted Suggested Dosage Schedule

No chance in heck that any of the fine scientists at Seachem would actually adjust the Dosage Schedule into that fine dropper system, huh?

(1 dropper of X per day for 10 gallon tank
2 droppers of x per day for 10 gallon tank
3 1/2 droppers of x per day for 10 gallon tank

4.23589 droppers (ok I got silly) of x per day for 10 gallon tank.

I have my math scribbled all over my printout. My wife must think I am nuts going to such measures for my aquarium.

Well, some day it will all be worth it. Maybe I can even drive my kids nuts doing the math and chemistry on our fine Aquarium.

Thank you for helping out with that.

Does Seachem produce a 'Seachem's Dummies Guide to Simple, Fine, Wonderful, Beautiful, Natural Aquarium's' ?

I swear I would buy the book - I would.

I am almost done reading the New - Square Foot Gardening Book by Mel Bartholomew which is great! www.squarefootgardening.com

Or how about 'Dummies Guide to Natural Aquarium's on a Budget' ?

After working on a computer for 12-14 hours a day - that natural green look on good healthy plants in the aquarium - with the sub-freezing snow temperatures outside - just makes you feel great.

I just learned that Seachem is phasing out the tiny pipettes - fortunately I am well stocked - now i'll just have to treat them better or steal some of my son's insulin syringes for small doses.

Seachem does a couple of little booklets, but they really don't go in for specific tank size dosing info, there is too much tank variability in light and water and carbon supplements to make that practical. My dosages are based on the bottle instructions, modified by experience.

Haha- interesting idea. I know my Insulin syringes are only 1/3 mL... too small even to be practical for my 10g haha.

Default Pipettes

The Rite Aid / CVS kids' medicine spoon/tubes measure the 1 tsp at 5ml and each 1ml very clearly. I learned that from Turbo. I even found one in my house last night. That felt great. I can now do the simple / complex math of just doing it with the Rite Aid / CVS medicine tubes!

I am not sure if my insulin syringes would be at all helpful.
Unless one of the engineers here knows how to convert 1/6 capful into units (insulin measurement) like 7 units of whatever. Would that convert into 8.987654321 dropperfuls for a 18.5 gallon tank (okay that is sarcasim)?

Is there a converter for glucometers to measure K in the aquarium? (okay, it is the end of the day and I guess I am tired).

Thank you for the help.

Turbo is smart and helpful. And of course the Seachem/Engineer gods of aquarium plants (smile). Thank you.

Default Kh & Gh

So where do I find these great booklets and are they written for ph'd Gods of chemistry or are they in common American English?

I would love to purchase one. The products are great. And they have much better credibility with me than any fish store staff (I swear they make up stuff just to make a sale!)

The booklet I just dug out is titled: H2GROW, subtitled: freshwater planted brochure. It is copyright 2004. I suspect it is from the AGA convention in DC, but would not swear to that. Ask Seachem about availability.
