Can someone please list the ingredients that would fall into the category of "some products that contain slimecoat will permanantly foul Purigen". I just did the recharge of my little bag of Purigen and when I checked the smell to see if there was any cholorine odor, it had a faint organic "funky" smell to it.

Not like fish mulm smell, but not particularly pleasant either. The product I use is supposed to remove both cholorine and choloramines. Seems comparable to Prime but is made by a competitor.

Thanks

I've got a container of purigen that I haven't used but it's about 2 years old. Will it still be effective?

Thanks.

I have added Purigen to my sump filter after reading great reports here.

I can't believe how good this stuff is. My water is the clearest it has ever been.

Purigen sounds something that I should try. I just set up a 50gal with Amazonia last week. Need to get these tannins out! Thanks for all the info!

Purigen will remove the tannins from the water. You are welcome for the information.

Purigen definitely worked much better for me in a hang-off-the-side power filter than it did in my cannister. After the recharge it has performed marvelously. Cleaned up all the extra murkiness left over after I attacked a nasty bloom of some variety (that had turned the water milky/green).

I'm sold!

It will well in hang on the back filters, but it works pretty well in canisters also. It may have removed quite a bit of organics in the first use.
