I have just used more bleach and it seems to be returning to its former glory!

Have also just ordered some more for my two other tanks. The aquascapes of two of my tanks have low lying planting (HC and Riccia attached to slate and rocks) with a lot of water column above, so water clarity is important.

I can thoroughly recommend Purigen to anyone with an Iwagumi or the like.

Dave.

The chlorine smell does not typically remain after soaking in the correct amount of Prime. You can also soak Purigen in water after Prime to ensure the chlorine smell goes away.

Glad to hear your Purigen is in working order for you Dave.

I did the 2 tablespoons per cup of water soak...then I did a plain water soak (figured that the chlorine in the tap water possibly made it smell again) then did another Prime soak...I can still detect the smell of chlorine. I even asked my wife to sniff it, just in case it was me, and she said she smelled it a little too. Would a 24 hr Prime soak help???

Purigen can be soaked in Prime longer than 8 hrs and it will not later the efficiency of Purigen.

Question Re: Purigen!

Seachem: Is there any rule of thumb that needs to be followed with re: to when purigan should be cleaned(i.e., 6 months for lightly stocked fish and plant tanks, or 3 months for heavily stocked fish and planted tanks) OR is it whenever the color changes brown regardless of the elapsed time. Thanks.

Purigen should be regenerated when it turns dark brown. A general rule would not suffice for than many different parameters that can exists in tanks.

Purigen will get to a point that regeneration will not bring back the full color. That typically occurs around 8 regeneration's.
