Default Reef Phytoplankton

Is the Reef Phytoplankton a live product? Or are the plankton dead?

Thank you for your question, joshvito!

The plankton in Reef Phytoplankton is not living. Seachem performed a study that showed that corals cannot tell the difference between live or dead plankton. The most important factors were how easily the corals can break down the plankton, and how much nutrients they can derive from the plankton. We actually perforated the cell wall of the phytoplankton, which allows the corals to expend less energy for consuming the plankton, and devote more energy towards growth.
