well after a lot of calculating, hard work and patience i have managed to finish my new aquarium cabinet. it is a clone of the ADA Cube Garden 90x45 cm. the top, bottom, ack, side and middle panels are 25mm thick MDF. the doors and thin panel above them are 15mm MDF. to join everythink together i used 6mm thick countersunk screws and special wood glue so that is pretty solid. for the doors used 170 degree special hinges.
filled the grooves with wood filler, sanded it and then primed everything with two coats of wood primer, sanded it again to make the surfaces smooth and then used medium grey high shine spray paint (several coats). the result you can see in the pictures. the only flaw i have noticed so far is that the gap between the top panel and the doors is larger than the gap between the doors. might get another MDF piece a few mm bigger and replace the existing one in order to make the gaps equal. need to varnish the inside as well.
