I've been using Purigen 100 ml bag continuously on my tank for a couple of months now. Clarity is excellent.
I only have two grumbles that may or may not be linked to Purigen:
1. The purigen turns brown and needs re-charging about every two weeks! and my 'The Bag' broke at the seam...
2. In addition, despite dosing high amounts of ferts, I have plants that are showing deficiencies. Seachem does not claim specifically to know the mechanism that removes waste. What could the purigen be removing?
It is removing something since it turns brown so quickly. I feed incredibly sparingly - often a small pinch every two or 3 days to a small group of pencil fish. So I don't have very much nitrogenous waste.
BTW, tank is 36 gal Greg Watson/Seachem ferts. (I've been dosing x2 on micros and Iron.)
I just took out the Purigen yesterday to experiment on what happens. Only thing so far is that the tank is not nearly as clear as it was before!
Anyways, anyone have any ideas or more information?
