What I mean by "control of organics" is simply the restraint to go very light on fish load and feeding. Also being diligent in removing any decaying plant material that will turn into waste. This coupled with controlling the duration of light will keep things pristine, assuming the plants have what they need to grow. This is especially important in a tank that isn't setup shoulder-to-shoulder with a dense plant load.
