1.Soak in one part bleach and one part water for 24 hours(I use I cup water and 1 cup bleach).
2.Rinse well, then soak for 8 hours with a solution containing 2 Tablespoons ChlorGuard, Prime, or equivalent dechlorinator per cup of water. ***I use 1 cup water and 1 Tablespoon Prime. Rinse well after 8 hours.
3. Soak for 4 hours with a solution containing 1 tablespoon per cup of water(Discuss Buffer, Neutral Regulator, or Acid Buffer). ***I use 1 cup of water and 1 Tablespoon of Seachem Neutral Regulator.
Although, not mentioned in the original instructions, I rinse extra well after the final step before reusing the Purigen.
