I do believe the depth of the tank and the light intensity are the primary culprits for my struggle to get a decent carpet going. You can see in the progression pictures -- freshly planted HC that never took off, Glosso that grew up, and now finally, good ole Blyxa japonica that is working just fine so far.
I may try Marsilea next.
