Hi Jersey! *waves*
I definitely understand your frustration. I was there once and never left in fact.

Wö£fëñxXx provided some excellent resources for you to browse. It may be overwhelming at first but pretty soon you will be able to rattle off those latin names as if they were your own name.

Then you can whip them out at parties and impress your friends. You'll be the coolest one there.
But here at Aquatic Plant Central, the moderators are making this process even easier by automatically linking every instance of a plant name to the corresponding Plant Finder entry.

This makes it
incredibly easy for you and me to quickly read up on on an unfamiliar plant. Here is an example of automatic linking. I am going to write Glossostigma elatinoides and you should see it automatically linked to the Plant Finder entry. Pretty cool huh?
Of course, this means that people should start writing the correct names of plants. Otherwise, the computer won't recognize the mispellings and thus won't link you. It is unfortunate that a lot of people short hand and don't write out the full name; or they use some common name <-- a very bad habit. It is ok to short hand and use common names IF AND ONLY IF you have written the full latin name somewhere in your post first. Yes it takes a little more time but it benefits EVERYONE.
