I ordered some blue pearls a long time ago from Planetinverts and they were extremely tiny. Sadly all of them died except for one. So I rasied it until it became an adult female. I usally keep them with my crystals. But then I had a bad tank since the substrate was giving off some funky smells and some of my crystals died. So I had to transfer them to my cherry tank. I was hoping I could do it short term and just transfer them when the tank is cleaned up.
But then!!! I checked today and oh crap! The blue pearl is berried!
My other tank is not cycled yet so I'm a little screwed at the moment. What should I do?
I want to see the results of this mix but should I?
I don't see why you wouldn't see what it turns out to be. What difference does it make if it's a hybrid or not - unless you are attempting to pass it off as pure - especially if it turns out to be pretty cool.
I got the impression that you are more concerned with this hybrid and it's traits will spread throughout your colony more than just the fact it is berried.
I would remove the shrimp before it's eggs hatch and hope it is not hermorphoditic and has been able to breed with the other shrimp and cause you to loose the pure strains of cherrys or CRS.
I'm curious, whatever happened with this? Did you save it and look at the resulting babies? I would have moved it into a floating breeder for it's stay in the RCS tank. But, I am a bit over cautious when it comes to my cherries.
