Default First Shrimping Exhibition

well we have had a pretty long dry spell here on lake mac and after some recent rains I decided i would go down to the local creek.
After a few blind scoops near the reeds (no aquatic plants in this creek unfortunately) i caught something, being the complete shrimp novice i am, i wacked it in the bag, and took a few more scoops, after about 5 minutes i had about 4 decent sized ones and some young and thought that had better be enough for now.

As i was walking home, feeling pretty proud i closely examined the bag of goodies and suddenly realized they were all Yabbies!! How could I have made such a big mistake ?!?!?

Anyhow, im back home the yabbies are in a container in the goldie tank, I dont know what will become of them.
I was really bummed out they were not shrimp, as soon as i caught the first one, i couldn't wait to get home and post a new thread asking you guys to ID them....Oh well. Here is a snap shot, water is merky from the creek water.

I dont know if you have these crayfish in the states ?

Here are a few shots.

FTS of the goldfish tank which is housing them, I put the bigfella in the container in a 3gal tank of his own. Do you like the custom built "cray cave"

3gal.

Yes there are crayfish in the US and they are an invasive species in certain parts of the country . Nice find there. How big are they?

theres a lake in my neighborhood here in SF. i've caught a bright red colored crayfish in the reeds. i was wondering if they're naturally red or did someone just dump the crayfish in the lake.
