Default Help with moving shrimp and snails

Hi and thanks for looking. So I decided to finally turn my 90 gallon tank into a planted tank. But I'm having idea issues. Firstly I have all my plants and shrimp and snails in a 55 gallon at the moment. I wanted to know how I could trap the shrimp without chasing them with my net. Also, my snails, I also would like to know if there is a way to catch those to transport between tanks. I moved from my mothers home so catching is the only way that will work for me due to me transporting between homes. I only live about 5 minutes from my old home but still want to be safe. Any suggestions?

Minnow trap.

No, seriously. You can go to Wal-Mart or any sporting goods store that sells fishing tackle and buy one.

Or, better yet, cruise the internet and find out how to make one from 2 litter soda bottles.

Sounds like a plan. I'm gonna check it out. Free is always best right? Lol. Also Inny 90 I have a fluval 405. I am worried about the shrimp getting sucked up. Any suggestions there?

DIY Shrimp trap.

Cut the top 1/4 off of a soda bottle. Invert the top piece and place into the bottom creating funnel. Presto! Instant trap in under a buck. Free even if you have friends that drink soda.

Fill with tank water and place at the bottom of the tank. Drop in an algae wafer and wait.

Since you have a 55g, you could easily make a few of these.

U think this would be good for shrimp AND snail? I just remembered I have a minnow trap I bought last fishing season but it's rather big for the tank. I'll do the bottles and try my Luck. Thanks so much

Snails and shrimp will both be lured in by an algae wafer - just leave it in there overnight so the snails can find it. Actually, the snails are the easier of the two to trap - weigh a piece of lettuce down with a rock and leave it overnight, in the morning it should be covered in snails. Unlike the shrimp, snails don't tend to dart away when you go to net them
