Re: Report Fertilator Bugs - Fixes Coming Soon!!!
MgSO4∙7H2O is going to be a hard one to come up with an accurate one teaspoon weight that everyone can use, I believe. We now have 5 different weights for one teaspoon. So far, there's 4.0g, 4.4g, 5.4g, 5.61g and 8.8g.
Here's a few reasons:
1) crystal size
- a) bigger/more crystals = less weight for same volume
- b) smaller crystals/more powder = more weight for same volume
2) moisture
-a) moisture content can vary the weight for the same volume
3) impurities
-a) can vary the weight

Re: Report Fertilator Bugs - Fixes Coming Soon!!!
Yes, exact numbers are quite dependent on grain size, hydration state, etc. It's always advisable to use an electronic scale to dose ferts - at least until you know what your particular interpretation of 1 tsp means. The biggest problem with the 14.0 number is that it was purely a typo in the fertilator table. The table lists 2.00g for 1/2 tsp, 14.00g for 1 tsp, and 12.00g for 1 tbsp.

Re: Report Fertilator Bugs - Fixes Coming Soon!!!
Yes, it's going to be difficult to get an accurate measurement.
I'm curious as to whether these type of conversions are really a good idea given the fact that it may give wrong results.
We spend $$$ on lighting, more $$$ on CO2 systems, more $$ on substrates etc etc. Why not spend $20 and get a digital gram scale?
For EI the exact amounts are less of an issue as the 50% water changes reset the tank anyway. However I understand that the PPS system does require more accurate weighing so tsps etc isn't the way to go anyway.

Using spoons for chemicals of any kind is doomed to failure.

I bought a set of digital scales last year and I use them. I agree; they are a very good investment.

Re: Report Fertilator Bugs - Fixes Coming Soon!!!
If Team APC ever needs someone to test the next beta, I volunteer.
I have never been very good with using this feature,
and I figure having someone that is relatively 'new' to a computer software may be more 'objective' when using it.
I hope this is helpful.

#1 (most important), On the "Get concentrations from Chemicals Added" page, when you enter a quantity into the the "amount" box in the phosphate row, it clears this quantity out when you hit the "calculate" button.

This only applies when you choose KH2PO4 correct??
Which is an entirely different element than K2HPO4?

ALSO:
The file I'm working with is missing a great deal of information compared to the one on that is live on the site.
For example:
The dropdown on Nitrate NO3 only has 3 options
KNO3
Flourish Nitrogen
Botanica Nitro+
It's missing Ca(NO3)2.4(H2O)
The same thing occurs with numerous drop down menus.
