You can post all you questions, comments, concerns, etc... about the 2010 TOTY Contest here in this thread. I'll do my best to respond in a timely manner. Now, get those tanks ready!

We have an additional sponsor!!

One of our sponsors, SEACHEM, has generously offered to put together a prize for the TOTY contest. This will be awarded to the Members' Pick winner, independantly of the total scores.

4. APC requests right of first publication. Your work should not be published elsewhere or submitted to another contest before the close of the contest period

Question on above rule. If you submit a picture of your tank to one contest, can you submit a different picture of the same tank to this one, or does this mean that if you submit your tank to a contest you can't submit it to this one? Did that make sense or did I make it more confusing!!

In this case I believe it means to say that the layout cannot have been submitted to another contest. So if you have submitted a tank to another contest, change the layout for re-entry. If this is wrong, one of the other mods please correct me.

Rather unfortunate decision. Given the popularity of entering the large international contests, it sure will preclude some fantastic layouts.

We thought about letting 'pre-submitted' layouts in the contest and after much debate decided against it. Yes, there are plenty of good layouts there that would be great to have in the contest, but we would like this contest to specifically be for our membership, not necessarily for a bunch of people who don't come to the site and are only interested in the prizes. We set a long submission time (6 months) so that members here can start a tank now in the hopes of getting more members here submitting layouts, with ample time to adjust it.

Honestly, would you want to see 'ADA lite' here again? The AGA does that, and I've heard people complaining about that in the past.....

Maybe it will give more people a chance. The "real masters" at this can handle more than one tank at a time. The novices can't and they might not feel like they could enter those "international" contests. I think the knife cuts both ways.
