Default new posts feature issues

This site is quite complex and as a new person here I find useing the new posts feature the best way around.

However I seem to be in a race against the computer to get to the new posts link befor it resets the last time I've been here to the second ago that I logged on for the current session. Sometimes I loose even though I have gotten good at guessing where the link is so I can click it without moveing the mouse much after the main aquaticplantcentral.com page loads. Do I need to set up my book mark to the new posts link directly to get it to work all the time?

because new posts is reset to the second ago that I logged in after say a couple of days all the new posts since the last time I was here are lost to that search feature and I end up haveing to wander through the site wondering if I've seen that thread and last poster befor.

Useing IE on a cable 3mb/s download speed.

Its just frustrating to not be able to keep up with all the new activity here. I want the last time I was here feature to reflect The Last Time I WAS here not some moment out of the current session. Right now it says I was last here 30 minutes ago when the actual last time I was logged in is 150 minutes ago roughly.

Does this say I'm hooked on this list? possibly

There is a function on the search page where you can find all posts from the last X amount of time.

SnakeIce,
it shouldn't be working that way for you. Under Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Settings, what is the value? Is it set for every visit to the page?

I've seen this cause problems before.

Woah SnakeIce! The system shouldn't be working that way. The software uses sessions so that the last time you were on is the last session not the last time you viewed a page.

Are you on the latest version of IE? If so, try setting the every time you start IE.

Trying that suggestion, I'm useing the advanced search thing that gnatster suggested that at least lets me keep up with it.

I'll note back here if changeing it to every IE restart makes it work.

SnakeIce. I bookmark the link to the new posts directly so I don't have to visit the front page. One less click. Here it is if you're interested: http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/f....php?do=getnew

This feature has not ever worked for me. This is the error I always get: Please specify some words or valid user names to search on. There were no matches for those that you specified. I didn't specify any key words or user names because I wouldn't know what they are so I left both fields blank. Also, would you add an option to search for posts from "Today"? As is, the latest date that the drop down menu gives is from "Yesterday".

I'm using Firefox 1.0.4.

cS,
The feature gnatster is referring to is at the very bottom of the advanced search page. There's a small box that's labeled: "Show New Posts from the last..." with a fill-in box to enter in the number of hours you want to search through.

Look lower on the page, bottom left, lower, lower, yeah...thats it. There is a box with no dropdowns that allows you to specify the number of hours back you want to search by. There are no other requirements other then the entry is a whole number greater then 0.

Oh goodness gracious. Thank you all. I totally did not see that at all. Hehehe. Would you fellas put it up top please? Maybe it's just me, but my eyes stop reading when the color blue stops.

I am on the search page at least once a week and I have not ever noticed that little area.
