Default I had an idea.

I was bored and had an idea to put this plastic gallon jug together. I did not have much to work with but I do love how it turned out!
Do you guys think this palm can survive like this? I was kind of hoping that when it grows it will eventually grow out of the jar =)
Inhabitants are three cherry shrimp and some ramshorn snails.Click image for larger version

honestly I think youll have a bunch of algae and growth issues but thats my own prediction.
as for the palm, doubt it will live.
p.s. the palm came from lowes or similar shop, commonly sold at Walmart, etc.

Depends on the species of palm. There are some palms that live in semi-permanently flooded swamps, bu I dont know if that's one of them. It looks like one of the common terrestrial palms sold in florist shops, which probably wont last more than a few months in saturated soil. Anyway, it looks nice for now!

Pretty sure it's a parlour palm. Supposedly it can't survive in wet soil but I've seen them in paludariums and ripariums. Maybe it's a luck thing? No idea.

Also, I don't think I will be having much problems with algae. This jar has been standing planted, full of water for a couple of months as an emergency betta holding tank, on a windowsill, with no algae. Why should it be a problem now?

Anyways, maybe I should swap palm for a peace lily? I've heard people have some success with it being even fully submerged? Maybe add photos or some other ivy?

It has been a VERY long time since my last post but! An update!
About 50% of the parlour palm has died, another 25% is curled and that's no good either. However, I am pleased to inform that today I noticed a new growth from one of the palms! It's super cool to see something happening as I was beginning to worry seeing most of the palm just degrade very slowly.

Also, I added a cull from my betta spawn and a bunch of daphnia. I don't feed the "tank" I don't even touch it. Daphnia helps keep it clean and their new born babies feed tiny betta fry.
I do have a bit of mould on the rock above water level showing up every now and again, on occasion one of the ramshorns goes up there and cleans, who knew.
Water level is stable and I didn't do any top ups in a months so that's a mystery.

In other words, all is well I tiny gallon jar.

bettas (or fish period) shouldn't be in an environment like that
1- to small
2- no flow at all and its stagnant
3- health issues

Even for temporary housing.
