Hi guys,
Our next meeting is going to be on June 21st, and seeing as it's prime growing season, I'm thinking we should go on a group field trip to see/collect plants. Or snorkel. Or something.
Here are a few ideas for spots to visit, and if anyone knows another spot we might consider, feel free o chime in!
Roger's Lake (Lyme/Old Lyme, CT)—home of the elusive Ludwigia x lacustris, plus an array of interesting other plants like Elatine minima, some kind of Sagittaria (maybe S. teres), and that invasive Glosso species that no one can seem to grow in an aquarium.
Lake Zoar (Southbury, CT)—supposedly contains plenty of Vallisneria americana, populations of Heteranthera dubia, Isoetes, hornwort, and tiny patches of the vicious invader Marsilea quadrifolia (also the more significant invasive species Najas minor, Myriophyllum spicatum, and Potamogeton crispus).
Thoughts?
