When I ordered glass tops for my two new aquariums they came in the mail broken. So I went to a local glass store and got thicker glass (1/4 inch) for half the cost of the on-line stuff. I designed a rear cover piece in Fusion 360 as well as a handle. I epoxied the handles to the glass. The rear cover covers a distance of 2.44" (62 mm) front to back, and the piece is 7.4"(188 mm) wide side to side. It can easily be cut with a scissors. Once again the rear cover is specifically for 1/4" thick glass, but can be scaled for other thicknesses of glass.
