Default Soil Substrates: Book Revision

Hello Folks,

This is to announce a new revised page in Ecology of the Planted Aquarium. I've seen enough mistreatment of soils lately here and other places to put a new Q&A into my book (p. 137). It pointedly addresses this common problem.

My website has a Revisions link that contains all 5 revised pages made since 2013, including the new 2020 one on soil mistreatment.

It's not the particular soil you choose as much as how you treat it!

Excellent! I downloaded the revisions and will print a copy to put in my hardback. If I use potting soils straight from the bag, my motto is, "Don't over-do it!" Keep the soil layer thin, and make sure the cap is not too thick or has particles that are too fine.

I love the inclusion of newer lighting options, I now feel better about what I've selected for my setups.

can you include a link to purchase your newest edition of your book? I found some on Amazon but I want to make sure it's the newest edition.

Thanks

Never fear!

The only new books offered by vendors like Amazon and Baker & Taylor (from link you showed) are up-to-date. The older printing (11th) was cleared out in January 2020 for the 12th reprinting.

In November 2019, I also asked printer/tech folk to change the eBook, so everything at this time should be "up to snuff."

If you don't get what you want, please let me know.
