Default Crushed Coral

I just read the sticky thread that DataGuru has on setting up a natural tank.
I did not ammend my top soil with crushed coral.
Will this be a problem? Should I put some on top of the gravel?

if you have hard water you don't need to worry. the crushed coral is to add hard water nutrients to soft water.
