Default Stuck pH Controller

I picked up one of these guys second a year or so back for a steal.

Lately I have found that either the controller or the solenoid is getting hung up in the closed position. I usually run this tank around pH 6.3. Over time it creeps up to around 7.2- it does go higher when I don't see it in time. Any ideas how to diagnose this issue? I am thinking of unplugging the solenoid and cleaning it. Thoughts?

Not a bad idea, but I would by pass the PH controller & plug the solenoid into a direct power source/timer to determine if the solenoid is at fault, more than likely it is.
