Default Bands that hold lights in place....

Does anyone know where I can get replacement bands that hold the lights from falling out of the fixtures? I'm not sure the model, but I'll look and update the thread if I can find it. Essentially these are little plastic-looking bands, but able to take much more heat than a rubber band. I've tried rubber bands and they simply dry out and break.

Sorry this isn't much info to go on.

Okay, this is a Coralife CFL. The CFls have these little metal clips that are supposed to hold the bulb in place but the clip is held closed by little plastic/rubber bands, otherwise the bulbs would simply fall into the aquarium below. I really need to find a way to replace these bands. I need four and only have three and those I do have are showing signs of age. I think Coralife makes these out of something heat resistant, but I don't know what.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Try a Coralife distributor for that part or you may need to contact the manufacturer. The model and serial numbers of the fixture will probably be needed. If you do not have either, then a picture of fixture and part should help.

If you cant find them why not just use zip ties, you can always cut them and replace them for light removal

Good idea. I think the identifying info has been removed, but even if I cannot properly ID the fixture a pic should clear the way. I'm surprised more ppl dont require these annoying little bands, but what do I know? Definitely will try the coralline distrib.

mooncon, zip ties are definitely a possibility. In fact, they're the only option I've been able to think of as a possibility. I am a bit concerned about heat still and have held off for that reason (for now). I wish I knew what these bands were made of because they don't burn or melt but when I've tried other rubber and plastic holders it wasn't pretty. The heat of the CFLs dried out or otherwise destroyed my rigged replacements.

I'm surprised no one seems familiar with what I'm talking about. I've seen them on lots of lights (I think all CFLs). Maybe because CFL seems to be moving toward extinction.... I dunno.

As an aside, why is CFL going the way of the dodo?
