Default Acrylic Aquarium experience needed!!

I just acquired a 55 gallon acrylic aquarium from a friend. I noticed that the front and back panels seems to be "bowing" from pressure, even without any water in it. Is this normal for a used acrylic aquarium? Is it warping? Can I fix it by laying it down on the floor and use a hair dryer to warp it back to shape? Is it even safe to use this tank anymore? This is my first acrylic tank so I'm really at a loss here...

Acrylic plastic creeps when under stress - it bends with the stress, and after some time it retains that shape, until it is put under more stress, when it bends again. I had an acrylic tank about that size, used it for about 5 years, gave it away, and it was used by that couple for at least 20 more years. I gave it away because I didn't like the way it was "ballooned" out from the pressure, and the small scratches all over the inside. But, it certainly lasted for a very long time.
