Default CO2 BioSystem

Hi,

I'm just in the process of setting up my first fully planted tank. I can't really afford a CO2 system with bottled gas so I was thinking of getting one which generates CO2 biologically using yeast (a biosystem?). Having had a good look around I'm wondering which would be best - the Red Sea Turbo CO2 Biosystem or the Hagen (Nutrafin) CO2 Nat Plant System? ALso, do you have any good hints and tips for running these things successfully?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks,

muddy

What size tank do you have?... It would be better and cheaper to go with DIY C02: http://www.thekrib.com/Plants/CO2/ (scroll down to "microbrew")

Sorry! It's a 60 Litre Aquarium (2ft long).

Thanks for the DIY CO2 link - I'll look into that.

Thanks,

Muddy

I think this approximately 15 US gallons, so either system or DIY would work for your size tank.

I would definately go with the hagen ladder. I've used it in the past with my own DIY mix and it brings the CO2 levels to a good level without much effort.

I never used the other system, but it looks to be basically the same, but throws out a CO2 mist of bubbles instead. For the price of this system, it ain't too bad since you get a small powerhead to go with it.

I would also recommend trying DIY on a glass diffuser or sweetwater type stone, from aquaticeco.com.
