Default Converting C02 Regulator from Paintball tank to 5 lb.

Hello-- I have a typical regulator on a 20 oz paintball tank and would like to transition to a standard 5lb industrial C02 tank.
  1. Can common regulators be used for both kinds of tanks? I thought I read somewhere (and can't find it now to confirm) that industrial tanks are filled to a higher PSI and it will damage regulators used on paintball tanks;
  2. Where do I find a thread adaptor? I've looked at a few aquarium webstores, and on Amazon, and even though I'm 90% sure the threads are different, I can't find any evidence that an adaptor exists, . Maybe this is indirect confirmation of 1) above?
Thanks in advance for your help or leads to more info.

No, it's best to buy a regulator that can handle the pressure of a 5+lbs tank.
High pressure is dangerous. You want the right equipments.

Do paintball CO2 cartridges contain liquid CO2? Anything having liquid CO2 at room temperature will have the same CO2 pressure. That pressure is a function of the temperature of the gaseous (and liquid) CO2.

The connections are different sizes between a 20oz and 5lbs. I don’t think they make adapters.

Standard tanks use cga 320 connectors. I have seen paintball to cga 320 (https://www.amazon.com/AQUATEK-CO2-P.../dp/B004M49QDC) but never the other way. They may exist, but i highly recomend against using one

Thanks everyone. I took off the regulator today to just poke around and it looks like it's native connection is for an industrial tank. There appears to be an adaptor for the paintball tank that simply unscrews.

A little more google sleuthing found these working pressures:
  • 5 lb C02 Tank: 850 PSI (source)
  • 20 oz C02 Paintball tank: 1800 psi (source)
So I'm expecting traditional regulators will be safe for both kinds of tanks. If I'm wrong, or if there is more to the story, I would appreciate anyone's thoughts.

Thanks everyone.
