Default Check valve question?

Hy, I'm new to the forum and would like to thank you guys for such a nice place you got here....I did some searching but haven't seen a response for my specific q's? so here goes: I have the Dennerle plastic CO2 Check Valve, on my pressurized system, all the reading I've done says to set the second stage of my dual guage regulator to about 5psi. So during my set up this weekend I got it all hooked up and went about some flow tests. It seems that the 5psi preassure was to low, and I had to set it at around 10psi to overcome the valve, and get the gas to flow, does this sound OK, at 5psi nothing got through the valve. I installed it w/ the arrow in the direction of flow of the gas... Also, it seem that it(C.V) somehow traps pressure in the lines creating a lag in the visual reading of adjustments to the needle valve...any help is greatly appreciated....

The outflow pressure of my regulator I keep around 20psi. I find that under that sometimes you get some variability in the flow rates of the gas. I am not familiar with that particular check valve, but the way you describe it, it's installed properly.

5 psi is a little low. I like to keep mine at 15-30 psi.

The orientation of the check valve sounds correct. With a check valve, glass diffuser, or anything else that requires some pressure to "bust the seal" so to speak, will lead to a variability in the readings. When you have your psi in above 15 psi, you should have to worry too much as long as the gas flow is consistant i.e. the bubble count.
