Default Eheim Carbon pad

Does anyone have a description on the carbon pads that come with the Eheim cannisters? In particular I want to know if it takes out tannins.

the carbon pads will remove the tannins from your water. It act the same as regular carbon. But I find that it doesnt last as long.

the carbon pad in the eheim cannister is almost worthless. i set up a 20g for my zebras with some big pieces of driftwood and though i boiled them all day multiple times there was still a bit of tannin releasing into the water. the carbon pad was new but it didnt do jack for the tannins so i went and got a little bag of carbon along with a little hob filter i had laying around and a day later the color is gone.

the carbon pad doesnt last and if there are lots of impurities i think it life its cut drastically.
