Does anyone have any experience with this brand? Specifically the lights and canister filters? I've read that their MH's are notorious for catching fire , anyone hear of this happening with the fluorescents? I know that a lot of people consider eheim and fluval canister filters as far superior, but I don't have the money for these brands. I'm looking for a canister in the $70 range that will work on a 55 gal tank.
Aquatraders has 216W T5's for $99 and canister filters for $39. Will I be getting what I pay for buying from here?
Thanks for all your help

Yes, that's the general consensus with Odyessa and Jebo brands. The quality and longevity is iffy. However I have a Jebo 130 watt that's going strong 1 year later from aquatraders.

I hear the canister filters are okay, some leak due to poor construction materials. But once they get going they are okay, but do not produce the rated flow rates.

For the t5 lights, I hear from reefcentral that they aren't very good b/c the burn out early and are highly inefficient compared to other fixtures. For a 55 gallon, a 2x55 ahsupply kit can get you a decent amount of light. Maybe add a 2x36 kit to get the extra boost of lights.

If you are on a cheap for filters, Rena Filstars are affordable. Rena XP3 will do the trick.

Another issue with Aquatraders is the lack of customer service. If everything arrives unbroken and works out of the box you are in good shape. However if their is an issue, may as whistle a tune of woe for the lost funds.

Check computer stores for fans...they look the same and I've heard of people doing it. Those fans go for a couple bucks apiece.

How can it be well made if at times both fans don't start. Have we lowered our expectations of a quality product that even a product mostly works it considered well made?

LOL. Maybe he was talking about the construction of the hood and whatnot and not each individual component....I'm not sure either.

Good point.
