Default Ghetto C02 diffusion anyone?

Heh so I decided to try something a bit...odd...in my 10g planted tank. I'm running a Green Leaf Aquarium pressurized C02 setup with the dual manifold option (splitting the outputs to two tanks).

The C02 runs into my tank via tubing, feeds through a generic glass/ceramic diffuser, and is absorbed into the intake of my HOB filter.

My drop checker reads a constant dark green, so I assume my diffusion is efficient enough for decent quality.

Here is a pic (please excuse the semi-dirty intake):

I'm surprised at the level of co2. HOB filters seem counter productive with keeping surface agitation to a minimum and not releasing the co2. You have found a good mix to keep enough co2 in the aquarium. Be careful that you use a soleonoid to turn off you co2 incase of a power outage. The filter will stop exhausting the co2, but the cylinder will continue to fill the difuser.

I used to run co2 directly into HOB. It's simpler and you don't need to wash the diffusor but it make sounds when a large bubble is chopped by the propeler. People use piece of bamboo chopstick insted of ceramic diffusor. It's free and when dirty, you put a new one.

I have been thinking on something very similar, involving an inlet tube with the very bottom of the strainer cut away and the diffusor mounted up inside... Until two minutes ago, I wasn't sure if just having the diffuser placed below the tube would actually work...looks like I just leant something Nice!
