Default Drop checker question

I bought one of these on Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Co2-Drop-Checker...item56403c82ab

Does anyone else have this type? Do I have to dilute this with water of a specific kH? I thought the reagent was pre-mixed but it's hard to tell with the instructions.

All drop checkers work on a 4 Dk solution. Plus the drops of the chemical for measuring ph. They also take about an hour to read out the co concentration

Join 7 Drops of testing liquid in the tester, then add about 5 ml water of the jar
so make some 4dk liquid and fill with it half of DC and then add drops of reagent till you get good colour

I use that type of drop checker on both of my tanks with CO2 and I like them, unless I get clumsy! Yes, you need to dilute the indicator solution with 4.0 dkH water. Typically I add 4 drops of indicator solution to the Drop Checker and then fill the "bulb" 1/2 way with 4.0 dkH water. I change out the solution about every two months, or more often if necessary.

Here is a good thread on Drop Checkers and how to mix up 4.0 dkH water. See the second post down.

Yes, mine says the same thing, "water of the jar". I've heard of "whiskey in the jar" but not "water in the jar". There was no jar that came with the drop checker solution, just the small bottle. I know I have to creatively interpret their "chinglish", but that requires psychic powers. I thought these solutions were sold pre-mixed.

Thanks, I read that thread a few weeks ago and bought a bottle of distilled water in preparation, so I will mix that up tonight.

Yep, I did it and it works. Still blue though. My diffusion method isn't much good, I will have to work on it.

I have the same drop checker.
You need to ad 4dkh water to the blue solution they give you in the bottle.

If yours is still blue, then it seems like you have not done this.
