Default Cleaning Vinyl Hose

Hello,
Is there a product that will remove mulm from vinyl hose that is safe for fish, inverts and plants? It get messy when I clean them manually using a home made device. If I do not clean my hose every two weeks, it slows down the water flow. The only thing that I think will slow down this mulm accumulation is to raise my suction away from the substrate to about mid-tank.

I actually use this trumpet cleaning brush for 1/2" eheim hoses, also goes around the bends really nice too. It's just not very long, so I have to go in from both ends.

im quite sure they sell hose brushes... though if you cant find one just use a brass instrument brush like one for the french horn.

Is it three feet long and do you think it would work on 5/8 Id hose?

Petco also sells hose brushes for a few bucks. I've been pleased with mine so far.

Thanks Sawguy,
I found a musical instrument supply store near me that had trumpet & trombone snakes. I chose the trombone snake as it fitted 5/8 inch id hose better. it works great and better yet, it saves me a lot of cleaning time too. I was able to quickly run the tool through and then flush it with water from my laundry tap. Great Idea and thanks again.

Glad the trombone snake is working out, French horn snake is a good idea too. Initially I didn't want to contaminate my trumpet brush but after wasting money on the official eheim cleaning brush that didn't make the bends I just went ahead and used the better tool. At some point I'll probably end up with algae in my trumpet.

The magnet cleaner does not indicate what size hose it will clean. From the picture, it appears it will do 1/2 inch hose. Ask the aquarium guys about it. I have concerns about the magnet cleaner not hugging the interior circumference of the hose. So I will withhold judgement at this point.
