Default Where in DFW to find good selection of FW Fish

I have visited several LFS in the DFW area and have not found the selection of healthy freshwater fish in DFW SUCKS.

The Fish Gallery in Dallas had great plants and 2 species of fish that appeared healthy, but several FW fish tanks either had ich or numerous dead fish in their tanks the last time I visited.

Petshop on Lancaster in FW near 820 had pet urine smell so bad you couldn't stand it very long. Half of their tanks had the lights out with obvious problems.

Winnies in Hurst had a large number of fish but they had a number of sickly ones. Half of the fish I bought died within 2 days. All 7 otos died but all Robertsi Tetras survived. 3 Corys died also.

Petsmart and Petco are hit and miss. Most of their fish have ich and as long as you quaranteen them for 3 weeks you're ok. They don't get in any of the unusual species.

This is unacceptable. These are living creatures and deserve better. If anyone knows of an LFS that spends a little more time acclimating and treating their wards, let me know.

TThe fish place near Ridglea Mall in FW on green oaks road has a good selection but the last time my family and I were there, a lot of tanks had dead fish or ich.

Petland at Lincoln Square in Arlington had tanks labeled with medication added and when it was added but their FW selection was limited to common varieties.

I grew up in Richardson in the 60's and there was a lady who sold fish and plants out of her house in a converted patio. The fish and plants were extremely healthy and the variety changed from week to week.

Is there a fish store anywhere in the DFW area that has a good variety of healthy FreshWater fish?

Thanks,

Mike Herod

I think the fish place is better now. It's the closest place I go to since I live in FW. Cheryl was talking about a place in Denton and there's another place in Plano. I haven't been there though. Where's Winnie's at?

Thanks for the response David,

Winnies Pets is in Hurst on Pipeline about 1 mile east of Precinct Line. They don't have any plant selection per se but they have a lot of freshwater tanks and a fairly good selection. I have bought several fish twice from them in the past year and have had only about a 50% survival rate.

I have bought from the fish place in the past. I'll check them out again.

Thanks,

Mike
