Default Please help: Fish ID

I bought a couple of fish from Petsmart. The label on the tank was Madagascar Rainbow, but I don't think they are.

Here are the pix. Could they be females? Note that one of them has speckled fins, especially the tail.

Any help is appreciated.

They look fairly young, so they could be as listed, but generally the chain stores are not all that consistent with their fish ID when they get a shipment in, or when they place an order, and may not be all that familiar with species aside from the more common/popular "pets" (just my experience...perhaps I am way off). For example, I recently asked if they would ever carry Apistogramma elizabethae, and the person asked "so that's some type of fish, right?" Basically you are working with part or perhaps full time help who have other lives off the clock.

Usually my thought process is that if I just some fish with a particular look to them, a chain store can offer that look at a decent price.

But if I want a particular species as a show piece, I'd stick with a local expert who "does this for a living" and knows what they are selling, with the specimens positively identified.
