I picked up a potted fancy twist plant from LFS yesterday and found some orange eggs as I was pulling away the material (not sure what it is, coir maybe?) the roots are kept in.

At first I thought they might be a fertilizer of some sort, but they definitely pop like eggs. I know the LFS keeps pea puffers in the tank the plant came out of, any idea what these might be? Pretty sure the pea puffers are kept in the tank for snail control.

Some components of slow release fertz (such as some of the components of Osmocote) look like that and will pop...but I am no egg expert, so I certainly can't say those are not an egg of some sort. I'd leave them in an see what happens.

Thanks Boots. They're in a quarantine tank now but I doubt they'll hatch even if they are eggs, gets pretty cold at night. I thought they were fertilizer because they were buried so deep in the material but they definitely popped like an egg. I was at once surprised and disgusted lol.
