I have had vals many times, but never have I seen them so reluctant to grow. These are the spiral type, and which don't grow to the extreme heights of regular vals. That is probably why they aren't behaving as I'm used to. (My very first aquarium, about 65 years ago, had vals in it, and my total lack of knowledge still didn't stop them from rapid growth. I used the "el prehistoric method".
