Don't even think about changing out the substrate unless its really giving you headaches. It will take a while to get back to a 'happy place'. Try waiting it out or getting a phosphate binder if it really concerns you.

As far as aquascaping there are a ton of good threads around - you might want to develop more of a foreground. From your photos you need some shorter contrasting species in front of the taller stem plants. Looks nice. Any algae problems?

I'm with you on the substrate change...last resort only. I have zero algae problems in this tank. I think it's due to high CO2 and High bio-mass.

You're also correct about the forground. I'm working on that and hope to post more photos in a couple weeks. I already have a nice bed of Elatine growing in plus I've added some sagitaria and Blyxa Japonica to the fore and mid ground.
