Thanks! I used 1 bag of Eco Complete. For a 10 gallon tank on the cheap, a HOB Aquaclear filter will do the trick. Or you can pick yourself up a canister filter like the Fluval 105, Eheim 2213, or Tom's Rapid Turtle filter 501 (Zoomed 501).

I recommend getting your plants from the For Sale Section of APC. Tons of quality plants from hobbyists. You can get a carpet of riccia with your DIY CO2 and the 2 screw-in lighting hood.

As for cleaning crew, go with otos, or some type of shrimp like cherries, or Amano shrimp.

Your plants look very healthy, and the fish have coloured up nicely, but it looks like you have a bit of FFW syndrom... The lack of any transitional mid-ground plants makes for a jarring effect as the eye reaches your background. Perhaps you should consider integrating a nice, strong hardscape, as it would give your aquascape more character while helping to break up the lines in your aquarium. Just something to consider- but it's been nice to watch the progression of your efforts. Good jub

John N., you can come over to Schenectady, NY and 'scape' my tanks anytime you want.

In my humble opinion, when I look at those photos I think to myself, ' HOLY ____! ' as I fall off my chair.

But then again, I can grow my plants most of the time; but cutting them is painful for me.
To me it's like giving a baby a haircut. That's probably why I find HM such a challenge.

Maybe Agrippa is right. But I love those photos. But that is just my opinion.

Yep, crying out for midground IMHO.

Still super though, John.

Wow, this tanks has absolutely inspired me to take my 10 gal "hospital/quarantine" tank in a whole new direction.

Now if I can just get the wife to agree ...

Seriously, very inspiring - great work man.
