Default is it a good idea to put a sump

hi i already have a 120gal planted aquarium it is running good but i was wondering if it will be a better idea to change from canister filtration to a sump? my main worry is the water turbulence will it take out all my co2 or it can be recalibrated really easy? My other question is. Is it worth the expense to put a heating cable in the substrate? What is the main advantage of this?

I have a sump on my 125 and I cannot keep the CO2 high enough. I go through 20lbs of CO2 in a month and a half to 2 months. I wouldn't do it.

I partially agree with gumby - a huge CO2 loss. I built this though:

and it made a huge difference. my bps count is down to about 2-3/sec and I'm steady at 6.4.
