Retail, this whole setup would cost just over $700, plus about $45 for plants & rocks and all.
I kept an eye out for deals over at TPT and got the tank brand new, the light used for 5 month, and brand new leftover substrate for less than retail. Not including the Co2, I paid around $350 for it all. But the best part is that the majority of equipment was bought with money I made from selling plants and stuff within the hobby.

No real updates, but a question perhaps you guys could answer. I have green water. This is the first tank I've had it in, it's been going on about a week, started a few days after I started dosing (doing about half recommended EI dosing). Now when my brother had GW in his 20g, it would become more intense as the day went on, and a little bit clearer as soon as the lights were off. Mine is the exact opposite. During lights out, it's pretty cloudy, not so bad that I can't see front to back, but still cloudy. During the course of lights on, within about 3 hours it's almost fully clear. I have no idea whats going on there! Any ideas?

On a more positive note, that Hydrocotyle is growing amazingly well. I received about 13 nodes, and I already have 10 new ones growing! It's such a cool little plant!

It is because you have aqua soil that is why it is so hard for you to deal. UV is the best way, or you can try ADA 103-032
Clear Dash which cleans green water. With aqua soil no matter how hard it still come back.

Hmm I've got a UV but it would do more damage than help on such a small tank. I'm going to try doing more frequent water changes, I did one today, and wiped all the GSA off the glass and so far it's looking less cloudy, but still kinda milky.

Here it was yesterday, after a trim. I didn't do the WC till today, so you can see just how bad it was.

Why are you tearing it down? It's looking good!

Just hook UV up and use as needed. Your tank should be fine. You shouldn't have to teardown because of GW.

Oh sorry, I just copy/pasted from the other forums, forgot that I didn't explain the situation on here!
I just got a transfer with my job back home to Texas. I'm leaving on the 9th. So that is why I'm tearing it down. The green water is almost fully gone, I did a 3 day blackout and right now, while lights are off which is when it was the worst, I can see through to the back of the tank. I'm hoping that with today's water change, it will have been a thing of the past and won't pop up again when I set this back up in Texas!
