Smile Fluval Flora & Ebi Nanos... Anyone have one of these?

Hello again everyone, its been a couple years (or more) since I've been around APC. I had to finish up college and learn how to swim in the real world. Anyway, I finally got a decent job so I'm getting back into the hobby. So far I've been occupied upgrading the equipment on my 30 gallon planted tank and its semi-planted 30 gallon counterpart- my oddball fish tank.

But I've been wanting to start something new and I've been considering setting up a shrimp only nano. I would of course love to go all out and start out with ADA products but my 'decent' paycheck only goes so far (and hey, I got all those wonderful student loans to pay off now :P ).

So I'm looking for something less expensive, yet nice looking, and I'm finding myself drawn to the new line of Fluval nano kits... particularly the Fluval Ebi, since I mostly want to keep shrimp and I'm not sure I'm ready to jump into CO2 yet.

Has anyone purchased one of these? Or at least seen one in the wild? Do they look nice up close? Or are they made of cheap materials?

Also, what do you guys think of the specs?

7.9 gallon (11.8" x 11.8" x13.75" high) glass aquarium with seamless front panel and glass cover
13W 6,400K Compact Fluorescent Lighting System
Fluval Nano Internal Aquarium Filter with spray bar

They look pretty solid, but most people replace the filter and remove the 3D background from what I've read. From the specs it looks like a tank good for low-med light plants, and the 8 gallon size isn't so small that parameters could change fast.

Folks upgrade the weak light to a Finnex 26W Epoch cliplight. If you do, you'll need to get the cover altered at a glass shop to accommodate the larger mounting bracket (or leave the cover off or prop it).

I have the Fluval Ebi! It's my favorite tank. I love the dimensions. I am using the filter it came with and it's doing the job although I might upgrade. I removed the background and it was very easy if you wish to do so, but it looked nice with it! I'm using the stock lighting. If you have any questions about the tank, just shoot me a message

I have 2 Fluval Specs and have been happy with both. I like the built in filter system. It low tech with crypts, no CO2. CRS/CBS in one and tigers in the other
