In this new tanke, I use a single 14w Compact Fluorescent over my 5 gal. tank. On the blub it said soft light. Is this blub ok for an aquarium use? .Does a single 14w gives too much light for 5 gal? Any body have an experience about lighting a small tank? I don't use CO2.
Plants in this tank are balansae, wendtii red Java Lace Fern, Java moss, Red Temple, Micro tenellus-pigmy chain swords.

i dont think that there is too much light- i have a 4 Litre tank that has a homemade fixture housing a 13 watt screw in compact fluorescent bulb. i have found this to be absolutely perfect for growing hemianthus micranthemoides, as the plat grows radily, nightly releasing streams of bubbles. i get a very small amount of green spot algae but nothing significant. there is no carbon suplementation in this tank, but i would be keen to try excel.

I just change to 50w Philips Agro-lite. yester day. The color of the light that the blub gives to the tank is different. The soft light blub gives more yellow color to the tank but Agro-lite gives more brigh and clear white.
