Default Do I need to cycle for plants?

Hi! I'm new to the forums, and new to planted aquariums.

I'm setting up a 10 gallon tank for dwarf puffers, and would like it to be heavily planted with real plants. I've kept fresh and saltwater fish before, and am familiar with the cycling process. What I don't really understand, however, is where plants will fit into that process. So, here's what I'm wondering:

Do plants need a cycled environment, or can I add them immediately?
If they don't, will they aid/shorten my cycling process?

Thanks in advance.

First off, Welcome to APC

Plants do not need a cycled enviorment. If you plant heavily from day one with more fast growers then slow, these plants will asorb the bad stuff associated with cycling a tank. This in-turn will shorten the cycling process. After planting I wait about three-five days then start adding livestock slowly. Here is a good article on cycling a planted tank.
