Wisconsin Pond Tank

I'm looking to recreate a local pond look. I love the look of POTAMOGETON PERFOLIATUS, but can't find a source. Anyone know of a source for it?

if you mean to purchase make a post in the for sale section claiming you want to buy it. Im sure someone has it. Be careful in trading it though as im pretty sure its an invasive weed but idk if its on the list... try this to: http://www.watergardenparadise.com.a...rgedplants.php may find some things you like on there.

It is native in Wisconsin and listed as S1 "critically imperilled". I will repost in FS.Thanks

Actually, new members cannot post in the sale forum until they have 25 valid posts. This is to protect the forum from spammers and people whose only purpose is to sell things. That said, I suggest you start a new thread asking for information with the scientific name in the title. If anyone knows about the plant, this is likely to get a response.

An "S1 critically imperiled" species is unlikely to be offered for sale here or anywhere else.

LOL seems I was wrong my apologies :) seems its not yet a weed but an about to die genre of plant apparently! my apologies again for the misinformation, I just did a quick search of it and some tiny research and that's what I got, prob. wrong plant I was reading up on... Silly me :(

It is interesting. The Wisconsin listing is S1, while the Federal list is G5 "secure". It must be disappearing from Wisconsin, but healthy elsewhere.

Good to know about the minimum post for the For Sale page. Someone had a 2009 post selling some out of NY, but they have not post for a year. I had sent a PM, but have had no response.

I've been really impressed with this forum and the general politeness of everyone. Thanks all.

Its true and everyone knows it, this forum is one of the most relevant and nicest forums out there related to planted tanks or aquariums in general. Top notch I say, to bad though not many people find this website at first. Took a while myself!

I decided to be a hero and googled it in the shopping mode. Unfortunately, all I found was pictures of it for sale, no actual plants. Unless I am over-crediting google, it isn't for sale anywhere on the internet.

Yes. I have been much with the looking, much with the not finding. There are lots of companies willing to wipe it out of your pond with their chemicals, however.

I guess there is more money to be made by killing weeds than selling them.:D

Hey, I'm a bit special hah. I didn't see how to reply, at first, so I ended up sending you a pm @op. I found this, but I don't know anything about the site yet. http://capricornaquarium.com/product...n-perfoliatus/

Marribelz 06-04-2017 02:44 AM

OK, ignore that link/pm please! I'm a little more awake and realize that's a seller in Singapore. They won't ship to where I live. I'll keep hunting as I'm now interested in this plant as well.

Re: Wisconsin Pond Tank

The visible leaves of many (if not all) Potamogeton species die in the autumn but the plant regrows from the rhizome in the spring.

P. crispus is an invasive species that clogs many waterways in northern USA. I have caught it and its partner in crime, Eurasian millfoil, many times while fishing in bays of Lake Ontario.

Horrible plants!
