Anyone have a UV or Diatom filter I could borrow for a week?

Willing to give a deposit, give nice plants, rent it, whatever. I just can't justify buying UV or Diatom given my small tank volume.

(I have a greenwater tank and past blackouts have not solved it.)

Thanks.

Even if you were to borrow one it probably wouldn't solve the problem unless you run a uv all the time. If the plants are growing well and your only problem is GW than I would bite the bullet and buy one. It will make having your tank that much more enjoyable.

Others disagree and state that induced GW must first be killed, and then tank balance can keep it away. Many people run diatom to alleviate a bloom and then remove it, for example. In the end, isn't the only way to know if UV or diatom will be necessary is to try it, kill the algae, remove it, then see if the algae returns?
